Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I was created to be an artist. Whether it be the 12 years of studio ballet or the art classes in school, art has always seemed to be one of my greatest strengths.
I entered college as a physics major…. but it seemed list art kept pulling at me! After 5 major changes, I was set on getting my Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts with a concentration on Art Education and primary emphasis on photography and printmaking. After college, I spent 2 and a half years as a Junior High Art Teacher in Moore, OK before starting my own photography business in Fort Worth!
My husband, Ben, is an award winning Urban Designer but currently is a Design-Build Senior Project Manager. His artistic talents is one of the things that originally attracted me to him! Behind the scenes, Ben is my second pair of eyes for all things Graphic Design and Photography. You might have seen him helping me during my shoots but now he is my full time baby sitter for our son, Everett, during my shoots!
Everett was born at the beginning of 2014. He brings us so much joy and meaning to life! He is my third pair of eyes as he loves to sit on my lap and play in my drawer as I edit photos. Afterwards, I have a floor full of my papers, paper clips, pens, flash drives, etc! I’m sure you will see a lot of his pictures floating around my website. He loves his picture taken!
Famous photographer, Paul Caponigro said “It’s one thing to make a picture of what a person looks like, it’s another thing to make a portrait of who they are”. I love capturing a variety of “moments” during my shoots, moments that stand still, moments that you want to remember forever. I am not a “traditional” portrait photographer just out to capture what a person looks like. I love telling more about who they are and creating special “moments” with special editing techniques I have developed over the years.
The picture below is an image I took of my son in October, 2014. I love this picture not because it captures what he looks like but it captures such a sweet moment and shows so much of who Everett. It will always remind me how sweet, calm, and curious he was at 8 months old! The light shining down from above reminds me how God is always watching over him.
